And as always the highest rated protection you can buy.
And for your peace of mind all of our UV Swimwear and other products are rated 50+ UPF Protection. And for you convenience we have listed below the difference in the rating systems.
One big advantage of the UPF (Ultraviolet Protection) is that both UVB Rays and UVA Rays are measured. UVB meaning ultraviolet-B and UVA meaning ultraviolet-A. Which can only give our skin the best protection possible, since both these type rays can harm the skin. It’s always best to be safe than sorry.
SPF (sun protection factor) are done on human subjects. SPF, is a gauge of how much time a person can be exposed to the sun before getting burned. For example, if you burn in 10 minutes without sunscreen and you apply a liberal dose of sunscreen with a SPF number of 15, you should be protected from a sunburn for 150 minutes. Although sunscreens with identical SPF numbers give you equivalent sunburn protection from UVB rays, no sunscreen product screens out all UVA rays. Some may advertise UVA protection, but the current SPF standard does not measure the amount of UVA protection.
Although experts still believe that UVB is responsible for much of the skin damage caused by sunlight –especially sunburn– UVA may be an important factor in other types of sun damage, including premature aging and wrinkles. And the latest studies show that UVA not only increases UVB ‘s cancer-causing effects, but may directly cause some skin cancers, including melanomas. We are still learning about the affects of the sun. And when it comes to our child we always need to be a safe as possible.
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection) Factor of fabrics are generally tested by spectrophotometer equipment and are not tested using human subjects. The UPF rate indicates how much of the sun’s UV radiation is absorbed by the fabric. For example, a fabric with a UPF rating of 50 only allows 1/50th of the sun’s UV radiation to pass through it. This means that this fabric will reduce your skin’s UV radiation exposure by 50 times (98% UV block) in areas where the skin is protected by the fabric.
And don’t forget the Rash Guard Swim Shirts. What is a Rash Guard?
The rash guard was originally developed for surfers who were getting rashes from the wax on their surf boards. The wax would hold sand from the beach and then they would be rubbing their torsos on the wax as they paddled out to the break. Rash guards are now manufactured from fabrics that hold high UPF factors, all of our shirts are 50+. This is about the best protection that you can get from the Sun’s damaging rays, short of staying inside. The primary benefit of the UV shirt (rash guard) is that there are no “missed spots” as with sun screen lotion.
The Rash Guard (UV Shirt) Shirts and Shorts are also fast drying, so they are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Once a child starts wearing the rash guard apparel at the beach or at home, it just becomes second nature. Making your job as parents much easier and giving you the confidence that your child well protected. Rash Guard is made stylish for both Boy’s and Girl’s.
The UV Swimwear worn in combination with a UV protective hat that covers the head and neck, while also shading the face, and you have the best protection possible. As parents we are all about keeping our Kids happy and safe.
